"Here is an item that I always planned on making myself but never got around to. When you want to get low, I mean really low, but you don’t want to put your expensive camera in the dirt, you need one of these beautifully made ground spikes.
I use mine in conjunction with a very short arca- compatible leveling head to level and frame shots. An L-braket on the camera makes horizontal or vertical shots a snap. A right-angle finder on my DSLR also greatly helps here, as does a cable release.
One suggestion to Berlebach or the user and that is to put a wood (ash?) or foam protector on the sharp end of this spike to prevent any camera bag mishaps! As it turns out, I’m glad I didn’t take the time to make one of these because I could not have topped this product."
